PCE Wednesday. NFP Friday. Path Still Inherits.
Soft Claims stayed wire. Oil left the ladder Friday. Cash closed green. Path still 3.75–4.00%. This week bookends Wednesday Core PCE and Friday NFP — speakers are clocks, miss = no chase.
September 28 – October 2, 2026
Soft Claims printed 197k last Thursday — wire only. The oil ladder climbed Thursday (Daily 94.83, h1 95.88), then Friday cash accepted lower (CL h1 92.97 then 91.57). Weekly CL 93.14 never got re-tapped. Equities closed green into the weekend. The path still sits at 3.75%–4.00% after the Sep 16 hike. Nothing in that weekend review rewrote the map.
This week is not a second FOMC. It is a bookend week: Wednesday’s Core PCE (Fed preferred inflation) and Friday’s NFP (September labor) are the two prints the rates and equity books will actually move for. Speakers fill the gaps as clocks, not as a re-vote. The expensive mistake is inventing a new path every headline when the real job is to arm into those two windows and refuse the chase if you miss.
Weekend Review left the same rule on the desk: wait for the location. Set the alert. Live off the charts. Miss = no chase. This note does not invent new levels.
The Week's Confirmed Decision Points
All times Eastern. Confirmed rows come from the named agency or Board calendars. Private surveys (ADP, S&P PMI, Conference Board, Challenger) are labeled. Soft Claims last week = wire; this week’s Claims = wire again unless a softs/claims symbol prints SENT.

Board: Bowman (bank supervision, 8:15 a.m.); Gov Cook (AI / emerging tech, 1:25 p.m.). | Does Friday’s green cash and the left-behind oil ladder still matter with a full book — or does the tape wait for Tuesday’s labor bridge and Wednesday’s PCE. |
