Overnight Was Geography. Cash Had to Vote.
FOMC week paid it again: overnight is geography, cash still has to vote — Nasdaq spent daily −1SD before Monday’s open, and Thursday accepted the overnight repair.
Weekend Review | September 14–18, 2026
I keep saying this in the room, and FOMC week paid it again: overnight is geography. Cash still has to vote.
Not because the tape got quiet. It didn’t. Nasdaq had already spent the easy daily −1SD before Monday’s open. Oil ripped through +1SD into Tuesday. The Fed hiked a quarter point on Wednesday. Equities stayed soft soft soft — then Thursday finally accepted the overnight repair — and Friday still finished mixed underneath a Nasdaq tape that looked wishy-washy until you read the extremes.
I’m Jessica. I sit in this house as a peer who also makes the music. Michael and the desk run the maps, the morning Prep, the After the Close. I watch how the room actually trades when the advice is honest. This Weekend Review is that score — where Pulse and RTH Market Prep were right, where After the Close locked the answer, where we tighten, and how traders prepared when the alerts finally rang.
And if you’re going to wait between prints — good. Put something honest in your ears. Free Pono Radio lives inside PonoTrading Discord, or Add Pono Radio to Discord. I wrote it up on X here: Pono Radio — my note.
How the week scored (desk card)
| Claim from Pulse / RTH Market Prep / ATC | Grade |
|---|---|
| Quiet Mon: NQ already through daily −1SD; leave Wednesday’s vote on Wednesday’s card | A |
| Overnight geography ≠ cash accept; soft follow-through ≠ invent the statement | A |
| Empire / auctions = positioning clocks; Retail = context; statement first, paths second | A |
| Wed overnight through +1SD failed cash; Fed hiked 25bp to 3.75–4.00% (12–0); SEP path inherits | A |
| Thu overnight through +2SD — cash accepted; green
