Overnight Through +1SD Failed Cash. Fed Hiked. Soft Close.
Overnight through-+1SD bid did not become cash acceptance. AP cash soft (S&P 7,551.81 −0.4%, Dow 51,461.90 −1.2%, Nasdaq nearly flat). Fed raised 25bp to 3.75–4.00% (12–0). Room: weekly UW shared days ahead paid — Pono $60k+, PuaPau $12–13k, FitForFutures ~$1.2k micros.
Wednesday, September 16, 2026
Morning Prep framed overnight bid through daily +1SD on the Tuesday-anchored map — ES, NQ, YM, RTY, and gold — as geography cash still had to vote. Cash answered soft. The S&P closed 7,551.81 (−0.4%). The Dow closed 51,461.90 (−1.2%). The Nasdaq finished nearly flat at 25,978.42 (−3.15 points). Retail Sales printed +1.2% as morning context. The FOMC raised the funds range by a quarter point to 3.75%–4.00% on a 12–0 vote. SEP medians kept the end-2026 funds midpoint at 4.1 and PCE at 3.7. Statement first. Paths second. Soft Wednesday after soft Tuesday.
RTH Market Prep was the day clock, not a forecast. Wednesday’s job was to mark what Globex already spent on the new map, treat the 8:30 consumer and trade-price prints as context for the afternoon vote — not a separate max-size invitation — and keep statement first, paths second. Cash did not validate the overnight through-+1SD bid as acceptance. The vote printed. Soft follow-through still does not authorize inventing size off the leftover overnight tag.
This note does not rewrite Week Ahead, September 14–18. Wednesday’s RTH Market Prep had the overnight +1SD geography and the Retail → statement sequence. Tuesday’s After the Close locked soft cash versus Monday and left today’s card sealed. That handoff held.
What cash had to live with
Overnight already worked through daily +1SD on the new map. House daily field — anchored to the September 15 close from the morning publisher — put ES daily 1SD at 7,520.92 – 7,657.58 off 7,589.25, and NQ at 28,617.63 – 29,292.37 off 28,955.00. Prep had ES last near 7,680 with a high near 7,689 through +1SD, and NQ last near 29,400 with a high near 29,439 through +1SD — same pattern on YM, RTY, and gold. That was overnight geography. Cash still had to vote.
Cash voted soft. Associated Press (via WTOP): S&P 7,551.81 (−33.92 ≈ −0.4% vs Tue 7,585.73), Dow 51,461.90 (−631.21 ≈ −1.2%), Nasdaq 25,978.42 (−3.15 ≈ less than 0.1%), Russell 2,858.81 (−11.47 ≈ −0.4%). Soft Wednesday after soft Tuesday. Dow led the soft cash vote. Nasdaq finished nearly flat. Friday’s cash session still closed green open-to-close. Those stay separate sentences when the week path matters — green Friday relief, soft Monday, soft Tuesday, soft Wednesday — not one blended “risk-off week” line.
Do not conflate cash with futures last. On the house futures board, ES printed a high near 7,699 through the morning +1SD and closed near 7,621.50; NQ printed a high near 29,549.75 and closed near 29,265 — still above the morning +1SD while Nasdaq cash was nearly flat. Cash open-to-close is the equity vote. Futures last is a different sentence. Absolute CME settles stay held until a settled board is verified.
Morning context printed — it was not the vote. Census Advance Retail Sales for August: $773.9B, +1.2% m/m, +6.0% y/y (July revised to −0.5%). Same window: import prices +0.7% m/m (+7.0% y/y) and export prices +0.6% m/m (+8.6% y/y) on the BLS release as summarized by the wires. Context for the afternoon statement. Not a license to invent hike/hold/cut before 2:00 — and not a license to average the morning prints into overnight leftover size.
Statement printed. Paths second. Federal Reserve statement, 2:00 p.m. ET: raise the federal funds target range by 1/4 percentage point to 3-3/4 to 4 percent, 12–0. Economic activity expanding at a solid pace; domestic spending resilient; unemployment little changed. Inflation remains elevated. The action supports a timelier return to the 2% goal. SEP medians (path): funds midpoint 4.1 for end-2026 and end-2027; PCE 3.7 for 2026. Press conference at 2:30 carried the path tone into the late cash soft. Statement first. Paths second. Soft cash after the vote does not rewrite the printed decision — and it does not invent the next hike as a fact before the next meeting.
Crude cooled inside the new daily field. Prep’s daily CL map was anchored to Tuesday’s 105.83 with daily 1SD 102.41 – 109.25. House board CL closed near 102.07 (H near 105.63 / L near 100.97) — cooled after Tuesday’s rip, into the lower half / edge of the morning daily band. OVX 57.49 (Tue 61.73). Monthly +1SD / quarterly +2SD stretch from the Prep map stays loud. A daily cool is not a higher-timeframe reset.
Gold’s overnight through-+1SD tag did not hold as acceptance either. Prep had GC through daily +1SD near 4,399.6. House board closed near 4,302.20. Same overnight-geography rule as the indexes.
Locations — reference only
No new Wednesday Daily/1h stack grades were verified for this close. Treat morning Prep bands and overnight spend notes as geography only — not a chase list after soft cash and a printed hike:
- Morning daily field (Tue-anchored): ES 7,520.92–7,657.58 · NQ 28,617.63–29,292.37 · CL 102.41–109.25
- Overnight through-+1SD on ES/NQ/YM/RTY/GC was the spent upside cash rejected
Process only: arm at the print. If you are not there, missed = no chase. Soft cash after an overnight +1SD tag — and after a printed hike — is not a makeup invitation into Asia.
Room note — weekly UW shared days ahead, paid today
This is the Discord tape worth putting on the record. PuaPau (desk analyst) had been pointing members at a weekly untested wick for several days — same level through the contract roll ("different price, SAME F#$%ING LEVEL!"). Today it paid: Pono over $60k, PuaPau over $12k–$13k, member FitForFutures a little over $1.2k on micros. The alerts channel also flags levels like that UW so the room is not hunting blind. Desk P&L from the founder; FitForFutures from his own Discord line — no screenshot invention.
PuaPau held the weekly UW with the room for days, took the trade, and booked over $12k–$13k on it (founder-confirmed desk print — not invented from a screenshot):
- "considering for several days now I've been mentioning it" / "telling you to keep an eye on it"
- On the roll: "when I shared it, the price level was different but that's just a contract switch, the level never actually changed" / "I shared it many times"
- Exit discipline: "identified that as the FTA, was tempted to reach for the midpoint of the stamp and would have made it but ya know, didn't want to get greedy."
- "UWs for entries and targets are the best IMO"
- Trailing exit earlier: "I caught a piece of that move as well, Prior bar trailing got me out when we got the 222 bearish reversal"
Pono took the same trade, trailed it, and booked over $60k (founder-confirmed desk print):
- "I caught that same trade … decided to hold a little longer.... was going to try for the close but that 2112 shook me out."
- "from entry price respected the low of each candle all the way up to the 2112 where i got out"
- "Trading Pono is not about flexing how well we KNOW price is going to go somewhere… it's about managing our trade and our risk from start to finish" — clean UW exit vs trailing until steam left.
FitForFutures (member) ran the same weekly UW on micros and said so in the room: "baby wizard here, just micros but a little over $1.2k on that trade" — scaled out, held the last two. His words in Discord. Same level the desk had been sharing.
Process only: share the level early, let the alert surface it, manage the trade. #profits-n-lessons stayed empty. Fed live-stream links are not trade gems — skipped.
What Asia and London inherit
Overnight does not reset the week. It inherits six open facts:
- Overnight through-+1SD tags did not become cash acceptance. Prep’s ES/NQ/YM/RTY/GC through-+1SD geography on Globex was answered soft on the cash indexes (AP). Spent upside on the Tuesday-anchored map is not a fresh long chase into Asia.
- Soft Wednesday after soft Tuesday. Friday closed green open-to-close. Monday closed soft versus that prior close. Tuesday closed soft versus Monday. Wednesday closed soft versus Tuesday — Dow led; Nasdaq nearly flat. Keep the sentences separate.
- The vote printed. Funds range 3.75%–4.00%, 12–0. SEP medians: funds 4.1 end-2026/27; PCE 3.7 for 2026. Statement first. Path second. Soft cash does not invent the next meeting’s decision.
- Retail +1.2% and trade prices were morning context. They are on the tape as context for the statement — not a separate thesis to re-trade overnight.
- CL cooled on the daily (~102.07 house board) after Tuesday’s rip. Daily band from the morning table is no longer the overnight oil chase. HTF stretch still loud.
- Asia already closed green ahead of the vote; London closed before 2:00. Nikkei 63,923 (+0.69%). STOXX 600 finished higher into the Fed (~+0.5% wires). Thu Asia inherits the printed U.S. hike and soft cash answer — not the pre-vote bid.
Use the September 15-anchored daily field from Wednesday’s RTH Market Prep as overnight geography until a new verified map is on the card. Write size and invalidation before the next impulse — not after. Cite morning bands plus spend notes; do not invent a fresh post-close expected-move table from tonight’s lasts.
Daily Expected-Move Map
Verified from the house expected-moves publisher off the 2026-09-15 close — Wednesday RTH Market Prep table only. Not a forecast. Overnight + cash already spent part of this field — especially ES/NQ/YM/RTY/GC overnight through +1SD, soft cash rejection of that bid, CL cool into the lower half, and a printed hike. Do not invent new bands from Wednesday’s close.
| Contract | Anchor Close | Daily 1SD | Daily 2SD | Spend note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ES | 7,589.25 | 7,520.92 – 7,657.58 (±68.33) | 7,452.60 – 7,725.90 | Overnight H through +1SD; session H ~7,699; cash soft (AP S&P 7,551.81); futures last ~7,621.50 — do not conflate |
| NQ | 28,955.00 | 28,617.63 – 29,292.37 (±337.37) | 28,280.27 – 29,629.73 | Overnight H through +1SD; session H ~29,549.75 / last ~29,265 above +1SD; cash Nasdaq nearly flat (25,978.42) |
| YM | 52,115 | 51,646 – 52,584 | 51,177 – 53,053 | Overnight through +1SD → cash Dow soft (51,461.90 AP); futures last ~51,899 |
| RTY | 2,873.10 | 2,847.23 – 2,898.97 | 2,821.37 – 2,924.83 | Cash RUT soft (2,858.81 AP) |
| GC | 4,332.80 | 4,271.79 – 4,393.81 | 4,210.79 – 4,454.81 | Overnight through +1SD → house C ~4,302.20 |
| CL | 105.83 | 102.41 – 109.25 (±3.42) | 98.99 – 112.67 | Cooled — house H ~105.63 / C ~102.07; HTF stretch still loud |
Weekly (anchored 2026-09-11 from Prep): NQ 1SD 28,531.56 – 30,242.44 · ES 7,491.48 – 7,827.52 · CL 91.89 – 108.21.
Vol at morning EM run: VIX 16.77 | VXN 22.26 | GVZ 26.90 | OVX 61.73. Into the close (house board): VIX 17.71 | VXN 22.44 | GVZ 26.55 | OVX 57.49. Oil vol cooled vs Tuesday and is still not “quiet.” Acceptance outside the remaining band matters more than noise inside what is left.
What this close does not do
It does not invent absolute futures settles. Cash indexes are AP. Futures lasts above are house-board tagged. CME settles stay held.
It does not invent a fresh expected-move field from the close. Prep Sep 16 bands — already partly spent overnight and answered soft on cash — are the map into Asia.
It does not treat overnight +1SD tags as cash acceptance. Soft cash answered that question. Dow led. Nasdaq nearly flat.
It does not collapse Friday / Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday into one sentence. Friday closed green open-to-close. Monday soft. Tuesday soft. Wednesday soft. Keep them separate.
It does not invent the next hike as a done deal. Statement printed 3.75%–4.00%. SEP medians are the path. Soft cash after the presser is not a license to size the next meeting tonight.
It does not re-trade Retail as if it were the vote. +1.2% was morning context.
Steal this / leave that
Steal this: Mark that overnight through-+1SD geography failed cash acceptance. Respect soft Wednesday after soft Tuesday — Dow soft, Nasdaq nearly flat — as two facts, not one blended index story. Treat the printed hike (25bp to 3.75–4.00%, 12–0) and SEP medians (funds 4.1 / PCE 3.7) as statement then path. Keep Retail +1.2% as context already on the tape. Respect CL’s daily cool with HTF stretch still loud. Missed = no chase. Level across a contract roll is still the level. FTA over greed. UW for entry and target. Room scoreboard (founder/desk): Pono $60k+, PuaPau $12–13k, FitForFutures ~$1.2k micros on the shared weekly UW.
Leave that: Chasing the overnight +1SD bid after soft cash as if acceptance printed. Conflating soft cash indexes with higher NQ futures lasts. Inventing new EM bands from the close. Averaging SEP path risk into a leftover overnight long. Inventing room P&L from screenshots. Naming the next hike as fact before the next meeting.
Wednesday was the week’s vote. Overnight already used through +1SD. Cash did not take it. The statement printed. What Asia inherits is the soft cash answer and the path — not a fresh overnight bid.
