Dark hallway at night — a gold candlestick chart on the left wall, sealed door at the far end with light under the threshold.

Overnight Through +1SD. Retail First. Statement Second.

Overnight bid through daily +1SD on ES, NQ, YM, RTY, and gold after Tuesday’s second soft cash close. Retail Sales and trade prices print at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. FOMC statement and SEP land at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday owns the week.

Wednesday, September 16, 2026

Cash closed soft on Tuesday versus Monday’s already soft prior close. Into this Hawaii window the new daily map — anchored to Tuesday’s settle — already shows overnight bid through daily +1SD on ES, NQ, YM, RTY, and gold. Crude cooled inside the lower half of its new daily field while higher-timeframe stretch stays loud. Census Advance Retail Sales and BLS import/export prices print at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. FOMC rate decision, statement, and SEP land at 2:00 p.m., with the press conference at 2:30. Wednesday owns the week.

RTH Market Prep is the day clock, not a forecast. Wednesday’s job is not to invent the decision. It is to mark what Globex already spent on the new map, write size against what is left, treat the morning consumer and trade-price prints as context for the afternoon statement — not a separate max-size invitation before 2:00 — and keep statement first, paths second. Weekend Review left the operating rule on the desk: wait for the location, set the alert, live off the charts. Missed fills stay missed.

This note does not rewrite Week Ahead, September 14–18. Tuesday’s RTH Market Prep left Empire done, auctions as the live clocks, and FOMC size on today’s card. That handoff still holds.

What overnight already spent

Overnight bid worked through daily +1SD on the new map. House daily map is anchored to the September 15 closes. NQ anchor 28,955.00; daily 1SD 28,617.63 – 29,292.37 (±337.37). Into this Hawaii window last near 29,400 with a high near 29,439 — through daily +1SD. ES anchor 7,589.25; daily 1SD 7,520.92 – 7,657.58; last near 7,680 with a high near 7,689 — same through-+1SD pattern. YM last near 52,601 through daily +1SD 52,584. RTY last near 2,900.6 through daily +1SD 2,898.97. That is spent geography on the easy upside of Tuesday’s soft-close field, not a free invitation to invent a second chase after the tag.

Gold tagged through +1SD with the indexes; crude cooled. GC last near 4,399.6 through daily +1SD 4,393.81. CL daily map is anchored to Tuesday’s 105.83 settle. Daily 1SD 102.41 – 109.25 (±3.42). Last near 103.72 — inside the lower half after the soft cash close printed oil higher. Monthly +1SD and quarterly +2SD stretch from the summer maps remain loud on the house publisher. Cooling inside the new daily field is not a higher-timeframe reset.

Tuesday’s soft cash session is the prior close that reset this field. Friday’s cash session closed green open-to-close. Monday closed soft versus that prior close. Tuesday closed soft again on the AP index prints. Those stay separate sentences. Overnight Globex bid does not rewrite any of them until cash accepts.

What Wednesday has to prove

Does Tuesday’s soft close hold as repair geography, or does cash reject the overnight through-+1SD bid before the statement. Week Ahead already framed Wednesday as one sequence: morning consumer and trade-price prints into the afternoon policy vote. Overnight already used the easy upside of the new map. What is left is whether cash accepts that overnight geography through the 8:30 window — with size written against the leftover field — and whether the 2:00 statement is traded as statement first, paths second.

One sequence. Retail and trade prices at 8:30 are context for 2:00 — not a separate max-size invitation before the vote. Do not spend the afternoon card on a morning leftover after overnight already used through +1SD.

Keep the Friday / Monday / Tuesday split honest. Equities closed green on Friday’s cash open-to-close. Equities closed soft on Monday versus that prior close. Equities closed soft again on Tuesday. Overnight Globex does not collapse those into one sentence.

What not to mix

Overnight tag ≠ cash accept. An NQ or ES through-+1SD print on Globex is map. Cash still has to vote at 9:30 ET.

Retail ≠ the vote. Morning consumer and trade-price context is not a license to invent hike/hold/cut before 2:00.

Statement ≠ path. The decision text lands first. The SEP and the press conference are the path read. Do not average them into one bet before either prints.

Oil daily cool ≠ higher-timeframe reset. Daily field can refill while monthly/quarterly stretch stays loud. Respect both maps.

Steal this / leave that

Steal this: Mark the overnight through-+1SD spend (ES/NQ/YM/RTY/GC) before you trade the cash open. Write 8:30 as context, not as a second thesis. Keep statement at 2:00 and press conference at 2:30 as separate clocks. Write invalidation against what remains of the daily field.

Leave that: Chasing Nasdaq higher after the through-+1SD tag as if the field were fresh. Treating overnight Globex repair as cash acceptance of Tuesday’s soft close. Inventing the decision on the morning prints. Averaging SEP path risk into a pre-statement size.

Wednesday is the week. Retail first. Statement second. Respect what overnight already used — or stay flat.

Daily Expected-Move Map

Verified from the house expected-moves publisher off the 2026-09-15 close. Not a forecast. The statistical field the auction has to respect or reject. Into this Hawaii window overnight already worked through daily +1SD on ES, NQ, YM, RTY, and GC on the publisher board — last still above +1SD on the indexes and gold. Crude cooled inside the lower half of its new daily field while monthly +1SD / quarterly +2SD stretch stays loud.

Vol snapshot at run: VIX 16.77% | VXN 22.26% | GVZ 26.90% | OVX 61.73%. Oil vol is not compressed. Acceptance outside what overnight already used matters more than noise inside a spent upper band.

Location, size, invalidation, and the condition that kills the idea still come first. Use the map; do not invent bands.
