Green Thursday Cash. New Map. G.17 Flat. LEI Next.
Overnight working through daily +1SD on ES and NQ after Thursday’s green cash close and the printed hike. Gold sits inside the new daily 1SD field. Crude slipped below daily −1SD. G.17 already printed: IP unchanged, manufacturing −0.3%, utilization 76.3%. LEI and state employment at 10:00. Friday inherits the sealed path.
Friday, September 18, 2026
Cash closed green on Thursday versus Wednesday’s soft prior close — Nasdaq led the rebound and accepted the overnight through-+2SD repair bid on the Wednesday-anchored map. Into this Hawaii window the new daily map — anchored to Thursday’s settle — already shows overnight working through daily +1SD on ES and NQ, with highs still inside daily +2SD. Gold sits inside the new daily 1SD field. Crude slipped below the new daily −1SD edge while monthly/quarterly stretch stays loud. Fed G.17 Industrial Production for August already printed at 9:15 a.m. Eastern: IP unchanged, manufacturing −0.3%, capacity utilization flat at 76.3%. Conference Board LEI and BLS State Employment land at 10:00. Friday inherits the sealed path. It does not re-vote. The Week Ahead September 14–18 spine closes today.
RTH Market Prep is the day clock, not a forecast. Friday’s job is not to invent the next hike. It is to mark what Globex already spent on the new Thursday-anchored map, write size against what is left, treat the G.17 print as path-inheritance context — not a separate max-size invitation after overnight already used the upper half of the new 1SD band — and keep statement-already-printed separate from cash acceptance of overnight geography. Weekend Review left the operating rule on the desk: wait for the location, set the alert, live off the charts. Missed fills stay missed.
This note does not rewrite Week Ahead, September 14–18. Thursday’s RTH Market Prep framed overnight through-+2SD on the Wednesday-anchored map into the housing/claims cluster. Cash accepted that repair bid. The vote printed Wednesday. That handoff still holds — with a new daily field for Friday, and the week’s last official clocks on the card.
Confirmed clocks
All times Eastern. Cash open is 3:30 a.m. Hawaii.
| Time (ET) | What is confirmed | Status / desk use |
|---|---|---|
| Wed Sep 16, 2:00 p.m. | FOMC raised funds range 25bp to 3.75%–4.00%, 12–0. SEP medians: funds midpoint 4.1 end-2026; PCE 3.7 for 2026. | Vote printed. Path inherits. Friday does not re-vote. |
| Wed Sep 16 cash | Equities closed soft (AP/WTOP: S&P 7,551.81 −0.4%, Dow 51,461.90 −1.2%, Nasdaq 25,978.42 nearly flat, Russell 2,858.81 −0.4%). | Soft prior close that reset Thursday’s field. |
| Thu Sep 17, 8:30 / 10:00 | Census New Residential Construction, DOL weekly claims, Philly Fed MBOS; NAR Pending Home Sales. | Already on the tape. Housing day answered. |
| Thu Sep 17 cash | Equities closed green open-to-close (AP/WTOP: S&P 7,637.76 +85.95 / +1.1%, Dow 51,778.04 +316.14 / +0.6%, Nasdaq 26,418.30 +439.87 / +1.7%, Russell 2,874.63 +15.82 / +0.6%). Printed: IP unchanged; manufacturing −0.3%; mining +0.1%; utilities +1.8%; capacity utilization unchanged at 76.3%; total IP 103.1 (+1.4% y/y). | Primary Friday clock — already on the tape into cash. Context for path inheritance, not a re-vote. |
| Fri Sep 18, 10:00 a.m. | Conference Board Leading Economic Index (August) and BLS State Employment and Unemployment (August). | Secondary clocks. Keep separate from G.17. Do not invent prints before they land. |
What overnight already spent
Overnight is working the upper half of the new Thursday-anchored daily field — through +1SD on ES and NQ. House daily map is anchored to the September 17 closes from the publisher. NQ anchor 29,446.75; daily 1SD 29,139.10 – 29,754.40 (±307.65); daily 2SD high 30,062.04. Into this Hawaii window last near 29,789 with a high near 29,967 — through daily +1SD, still inside daily +2SD. ES anchor 7,640.00; daily 1SD 7,578.26 – 7,701.74; daily 2SD high 7,763.49; last near 7,702 with a high near 7,739 — same through-+1SD pattern with the session high still inside +2SD. YM last near 52,064 inside daily 1SD upper half. RTY last near 2,885 inside daily 1SD. That is spent geography on the easy upside of Thursday’s green-close field after a printed hike — not a free invitation to invent a second chase after the tag.
Gold is inside the new daily field; crude broke the new daily −1SD edge. GC last near 4,412 inside daily 1SD 4,342.17 – 4,457.23. CL daily map is anchored to Thursday’s 101.91 settle. Daily 1SD 99.13 – 104.69 (±2.78). Last near 97.38 with a low near 94.83 — below daily −1SD. Monthly +1SD and quarterly +1SD stretch remain loud on the house publisher. A daily cool/break is not a higher-timeframe reset.
Thursday’s green cash session is the prior close that reset this field. Wednesday closed soft. Thursday closed green open-to-close — Nasdaq led — and accepted the overnight through-+2SD repair on the old map. Those stay separate sentences. Overnight Globex bid on the new map does not rewrite green cash acceptance, and it does not reopen the vote.
What Friday has to prove
Does Thursday’s green close hold as acceptance after a printed hike and a flat G.17, or does cash reject overnight’s through-+1SD spend into the 10:00 LEI/state-labor window. Week Ahead already framed Friday as industrial production then LEI/state employment — the week’s close. Overnight already used through +1SD of the new map on ES/NQ. What is left is whether cash accepts that overnight geography through the open — with size written against the leftover field — and whether the sealed SEP path (funds 4.1 / PCE 3.7) plus a flat G.17 print are treated as inheritance, not as a fresh decision to invent.
One sequence. G.17 already printed flat IP / soft manufacturing. LEI and state employment at 10:00 are the secondary clocks — not a second thesis and not a license to chase a spent upper band. Do not spend the afternoon card on a morning leftover after overnight already used through +1SD.
Keep the Wednesday / Thursday split honest. Equities closed soft on Wednesday’s cash open-to-close. Equities closed green on Thursday’s cash open-to-close versus that soft prior close. Overnight Globex does not collapse those into one sentence — and the printed hike does not rewrite either cash answer.
What not to mix
Overnight tag ≠ cash accept. An NQ or ES through-+1SD print on Globex is map. Cash still has to vote at 9:30 ET.
G.17 / LEI ≠ a fresh vote. Industrial production already printed flat. Leading indicators and state labor at 10:00 are context into path inheritance — not a license to invent the next hike.
Statement already printed ≠ path to re-trade as decision. Funds range 3.75%–4.00%, 12–0. SEP medians are the path. Green Thursday cash after the presser does not reopen the ballot.
Oil daily break ≠ higher-timeframe reset. Daily field can break −1SD while monthly/quarterly stretch stays loud. Respect both maps.
Through +1SD on the new map ≠ free chase. Thursday’s green close reset the field. Overnight already spent the easy upside of the new 1SD band. Write invalidation against what remains.
Next three steps
- Mark the overnight through-+1SD spend (ES/NQ) on the Thursday-anchored map before you trade the cash open. YM/RTY inside 1SD, gold inside 1SD, and CL below −1SD are separate sentences.
- Write G.17 as printed context (IP flat / mfg −0.3% / util 76.3%) and keep 10:00 LEI + state employment as their own clocks. Do not invent LEI or state-labor prints before they land.
- Treat the hike and SEP path as sealed inheritance. Size and invalidation against what is left of the daily field. Missed = no chase. Week Ahead Sep 14–18 closes today — do not rewrite the week.
Steal this / leave that
Steal this: Mark the overnight through-+1SD spend (ES/NQ) before you chase higher on the new map. Keep soft Wednesday cash separate from Thursday’s green open-to-close. Respect the printed hike (25bp to 3.75–4.00%, 12–0) and SEP medians (funds 4.1 / PCE 3.7) as statement then path already on the tape. Treat G.17 (IP unchanged, manufacturing −0.3%, util 76.3%) as printed context. Write 10:00 LEI/state labor as secondary clocks, not as a re-vote. Write invalidation against what remains of the daily field.
Leave that: Chasing Nasdaq higher after the through-+1SD tag as if the field were fresh. Treating overnight Globex as cash acceptance of Thursday’s green close. Inventing the next hike off a flat G.17 or the 10:00 LEI window. Averaging SEP path risk into a pre-acceptance size after overnight already used the upper half of the new 1SD band. Rewriting the Week Ahead spine on the last day of the week.
Friday inherits the vote. Thursday cash accepted Wednesday’s overnight through-+2SD repair. Overnight already used through +1SD on the new map. G.17 flat. LEI next. Respect what Globex already spent — or stay flat.

Daily Expected-Move Map
Verified from the house expected-moves publisher off the 2026-09-17 close. Not a forecast. The statistical field the auction has to respect or reject. Thursday cash accepted the prior overnight through-+2SD repair bid and closed green (Nasdaq led). This map is the new Thursday-anchored field for Friday. Into this Hawaii window overnight is working the upper half of the new daily 1SD band on ES/NQ — NQ last near/through daily +1SD — while crude sits below the new daily −1SD edge with monthly +1SD / quarterly +1SD stretch still loud on the publisher board.
| Contract | Anchor Close | Daily 1SD | Daily 2SD | Spend note (EM run ~3:28 AM HT) |

| GC | 4,399.70 | 4,342.17 – 4,457.23 (±57.53) | 4,284.65 – 4,514.75 | Inside 1SD upper half (last ~4,412.00; H ~4,439.80) |
| CL | 101.91 | 99.13 – 104.69 (±2.78) | 96.35 – 107.47 | Below −1SD (last ~97.38; L ~94.83). Monthly +1SD / quarterly +1SD stretch still loud |
Weekly (anchored 2026-09-11): NQ 1SD 28,531.56 – 30,242.44 (±855.44). ES 1SD 7,491.48 – 7,827.52 (±168.02). CL weekly 1SD 91.89 – 108.21.
Vol snapshot at run: VIX 15.40% | VXN 19.96% | GVZ 24.98% | OVX 52.11%. Oil vol is not compressed. Acceptance outside what overnight already used matters more than noise inside a spent upper band.
Location, size, invalidation, and the condition that kills the idea still come first. Use the map; do not invent bands.
